A 2025 addition to the Ft. Miles artillery park, is this M1917 155mm GPF Gun, also know as "Canon de 155 Grande Puissance Filloux". The French designed long range gun had a range of up to 12 miles, making it well suited for coastal defense use. This particular gun was obtained in trade from a American Legion hall in Akron Ohio, and was acquired to represent the battery of 4 such guns stationed at Ft. Miles in WW2. It is marked "Puteaux 1919" showing that it was manufactured in 1919 at the French Puteaux arsenal. The M1917 is essentially the same gun as the M1918, with the M1917 designation being used for French produced guns, and M1918 used for US produced guns.

US Army techincal manual TM 9-345 is the 1941 reference manual for this gun. With this 1918 document being an older manual. Manual FM 4-25 is the Coast Artillery Field Manual for this gun. TM 9-751 is the manaul for the M12 gun motor carriage, which was the M1918 gun mounted in the chassis for the M3 medium tank.
